Sustainability

Photocatalysis is the process of harnessing high-energy wavelengths of light to help speed up chemical reactions. There are many toxic chemical byproducts as a result of industrial processes that severely harm the health of the environment. The sun is a natural and abundant source of high energy light, making this process a sustainable strategy to breakdown these toxic chemicals.

Our lab has developed buoyant photocatalysts for use in water treatment. We continue to explore the applications of these nanomaterials in a wide array of waste waters
